Minimal design is not the absence of decisions. It is the result of making many decisions and then refusing to display all of them at once.

In practice, that means:

  • choosing a comfortable line length
  • letting whitespace do structural work
  • using contrast sparingly
  • resisting components that call attention to themselves

A theme like still tries to make those choices feel inevitable rather than impressive.
